Prostate Cancer Awareness Day

The Prostate Cancer Awareness Day was successfully celebrated on Sunday 15th September 2013, with an event organized by the Urological Association of Northern Greece and the Institute for the Study of Urological Diseases.

The date of September 15th has been officially declared as the “European Prostate Cancer Awareness Day”. Information printed material was distributed to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., in a specially arranged open kiosk set up at the Aristotelous Square of Thessaloniki, while Specialists - Residents in Urology and Medical Students, provided information and answers to questions related to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.

Men demonstrated particular interest and had several questions, while many of them
brought along their medical exams to ask for the Experts’ opinion. It is worth saying that there were many women who were also interested in getting information so as to help and support their husbands.

During the event, the President of the Urological Association of Northern Greece, Mr Haris Aedonopoulos, gave an interview focusing on prostate cancer prevention and sending the optimistic message of the event which was:

“FACING PROSTATE CANCER!”

We would like to warmly thank the radio/television channels, press and electronic media for covering the event and communicating it to the wider public.
